Et oui, cela fait quelques temps que nous n'avions pas donne de nouvelles sur notre blog, non pas que nous l'avions delaisse mais plutot nous avons ete confronte a des "problemes techniques" bien specifique a la toile chinoise!!! Allez, je vous aide, ca commence par un "c"!
Mais, petites genies de l'informatique que nous sommes, nous avons finalement trouve une solution pour detourner ce petit probleme, ca ne nous aura pris que 2 mois a trouver la solution, c est tout!
Anyway, revenons-en a nos news! Apres vous avoir laisse au Bangladesh, Andries et moi nous sommes retrouves pour un week end a Bangkok. Pour moi, cela a ete comme un retour au monde occidental: nombreuses structures modernes, routes impecables, absence de cafard a l'hotel, petits cafe et restos a tous coins de rues et surtout pleins de femmes se baladant dans les rues, et qui plus est des femmes vetues, de ce qui me semblait encore a l'epoque, de petites tenues (short et jupe courte!!! incroyable!). Moi, encore influencee de mes reflexes d'occidentale au Bangladesh, j'etais toujours couverte des epaules aux pieds avec par dessus mon inseparable chale pour ne laisser devoiler aucune forme ou morceau de chair.
Le choc ne s'arrete pas la! Des mes premiers pas a l'aeroport, je me surprenais a remarquer que personne ne me devisagait ou ne voulait prendre de photos de moi!!! Les gens de ce pays ne sont-ils pas interesses par ma presence???? Ca alors!!!!
Apres ces quelques heures de re-occidentalisation, j'avoue avoir tres vite repris mes vieilles habitudes et redecouvert progressivement ma feminite! A moi les shorts, jupes, robes et debardeurs!
Je vous rassure, le week end ne s est pas limite a ses redecouvertes de la vie occidentale! Andries et moi avons flaner dans les rues de Bangkok a la decouverte de tous les Bouddhas que l'on pouvait voir dans la ville, et il y en a beaucoup!!!! Sur conseil d'un pseudo-guide rencontre dans la rue, ils nous fallaient realiser le cycle des 3 Bouddha les plus sacres de Bangkok pour pouvoir apporter joie et serenite dans notre vie! On a vite ete convaincu par le programme et on s'est embarque dans la visite du Bouddha en meditation, du Bouddha debout et du Bouddha couche!
Nous avons aussi visiter les incontournables Grand Palais & Wat Phra Kaew (residences des rois thai), les temples Wat Pho, Wat Arun et Wat Saket (vous l'aurez compris, "wat" signifit temple en thai!) mais aussi Jim Thompson's house (6 maisons en teck representant les differents styles architecturaux en Thailande), Chatuchak market ( le plus grand marche en Thailande et soit disant au monde, il s'etend sur 1.13 km2 et recoit environs 200.000 a 300.000 visiteurs par jour! On y trouve de tout, des chaussures aux objets religieux en passant par les brochettes de merguez!), Chinatown (ca nous manque trop!) et Little India. Enfin, apres ces nombreuses visites, nous sommes delasses lors d'une balade en bateau sur la Chao Phraya River.

Nous avons succombes aux charmes de cette ville a la fois riche en activites et a l'atmosphere si zen et, bien sur, aux sourires de ses habitants! En bref, ca nous tenterais bien d'y faire escale pendant quelques temps!

Ok, ok, there is a bit of time since we posted the last news on our blog but it is not that we forgot about it, we just had some "technical problems" very specific to the chinese web, you see what we mean! Anyway, as little internet genious that we are, we finally found a way to getting round this problem. So now, we can indeed post new message but we cannot direclty access our own blog, so when you will be able to see our blog, we won't...but we can still post message! Awkward situation!
Anyway, here are the lastest news! After leaving Bangladesh end of June, Andries and I met in Bangkok for a week end. For me (Charlotte), that was like a return to the western world: modern building, perfect roads, no cockroaches in the hotel, nice cafe and restaurants at every corners of the streets and above all, so many women in the streets!!!! Especially women wearing, what I still thought at this time, very few clothes: shorts, mini-skirt,dress, almost shocking!!!! Of course, I was still under the influence of my reflex of western woman living in Bangladesh and wearing clothes covering from my shoulders to my ankles added to my shawl to hide any kind of revealing womanly shape. But that was not all! Entering the Bangkok airport, I soon realized that no one was staring at me or wanted to take pictures of me!!! How can it be? Is there no one interested or curious about me in this country??? How disappointing!!!
After a few hours of "re-westernization", I have to admit I quicly recovered from my first chocks and went back to my old habits: among others things, re-discovering how nice it is to wear short, skirt and dress when it is 37 degres outside!
Don't worry, our week end was not retricted to my re-westernization! We did visit a lot, starting by the innumerable buddhas of Bangkok! According to a pseudo-guide met in the street, we had to visit the 3 sacrest Buddha of Bangkok to bring joy and happiness in our life! Well, quite convinced by the highly importance of such a tour, we did pay a visit to the meditating Buddha, the standing Buddha and finally the lying Buddha! We will keep you inform with the effects of such tour!
We also went to visit the "must-be-seen" Grand Palace & Wat Phra Kaew (old residence of the thai kings), the temples Wat Pho, Wat Arun and Wat Saket (i guess it's clear now, "wat" means temple in thai!) and also Jim Thompson's house (6 teck houses representing different architectural styles in Thailand), Chatuchack market (the biggest market in Thailand and supposedly the biggest in the world! It spreads on 1.13 m2 and welcomes from 200.000 to 300.000 visitors a day! You can find everything and anything: from shoes to religious artefacts and food!), Chinatown (we were missing it!) and Little India. Finally, to rest from all these visits, we ended our week end by a boat tour on the Chao Phraya River.

In brief, we felt for the charms of this city, rich in activities and in the same with such a zen atmosphere and of course we were charmed by the smile of its inhabitants!
